Ceramic Artist
Hi, this is Kourtney Adair.
Kourtney grew up in the countryside of Greentown, IN which is a tiny town right next to Kokomo IN. She went to Eastern Elelmetry, Middle/High school. Kourtney is an animal lover and had many pets from two dogs, several stray cats, two horses, and a pig. She also loves to watch sci-fi, brain science, and romantic comedies. In sixth grade, she was involved in the Soap Box Derbie Race. Kourtney engaged herself in orchestra by playing the cello from fourth grade to her sophmore year of high school. Her junior year of high school, she quit cello and started taking ceramics classes and instantly got a passion for manpilating clay. Now, she is an graduate majoring in ceramics at Ball State University.
The media I work with is clay. My work explores a variety of vessels through my ceramics. My thoughts about the overall proportions are the main focus of each body of work. My pieces reflect variety of shapes, color, and my personality. My work is inspired by my emotions and to my understanding of this work has been a reflection on the process and detail that has profoundly impacted the way that I think about life. I am drawn to making vessels because I feel that it further explores my ceramics. It specifically helps me to communicate my ideas at times. I enjoy making these vessels whether it be larger forms or smaller thrown forms from the wheel.
